Izumi Tanaka has become a princess who wears pants instead of pastel dresses, dates her former bodyguard, and has a Tamagotchi dog of unknown pedigree. The princess's father, the crown prince, also defiantly rejects imperial rules and traditions, because he has renewed his relationship with Izumi's mother. Ms. Tanaka could cause a succession crisis, and she's also a feminist with radical environmentalist views. And while the imperial court dreams of ending this relationship, the crown prince announces that he intends to marry his American sweetheart. The Council of the Imperial Court is expected to vote against. Izumi knows what it's like to not be good enough for the Imperial family, so she decides to seek a marriage blessing. But is it up to her? And won't the freedom-loving princess have to give up her dreams and plans for the sake of her parents' happiness?
